I've been meaning to blog this, for like, ever...but ya know, stuff always gets in the way ;)

I actually planned on blogging this yesterday, but our internet was out! Can you believe that? So ridiculous...oh well, I guess it deserves a day off every now and then!
Mike and I have been wanting to drive across the country for a long time...ever since we met. Sometimes I would even call him after I got out of class and tell him to meet me near Fretwell and Friday building and we could just go....but noooo, someone always wanted to go to class (and it obviously was not me!).
I guess you could say our dream came true (or nervousness) around Christmas...it was the perfect time to drive and plus we didn't want to leave Bear alone in some cold kennel over Christmas...so without much planning we decided to drive ACROSS.THE.COUNTRY!
I was all gung-ho until 2 1/2 days before the trip and then I realized (stupidly, for the first time), "OMGosh, what if something happens?!?," "What if this," "What if that," began to consume my mind. Oh well, it was too late to turn around! In the back of my mind, I kept expecting something bad to happen, like a tire blowout, or one of us would get really sick, or we would get robbed!! (nooo, please don't take the Christmas presents!) By the way, that last fear is completely feasible...I had a friend in college who was robbed in Kansas on her way to California!
Fortunately, fortunately, fortunately our 1991 (yes, that's right, they had cars back then!) Jeep Cherokee made it! WOOHOO! (that Jeep seriously has to be the bargain of the century!) and we ended up having a fabulous Christmas with our families and had THE best time driving across the country...such a good time in fact, that we're already talking about doing it again...I highly recommend it ;)
A real, live ghost town in New Mexico!

so creeepy! (anddd with "Beware of Rattlesnake" sign EVERYWHERE...yikes!)

We decided to leave Bear in the car...probably a good choice....

C'mon, I have to pay a tribute to the Jeep for lugging 2 people, their suitcases, a dog, a whole turkey (dead, roasted and on ice) across the country for 2 weeks!

Bear enjoyed checking out the sights (and smells)

Fortunately for us, we missed the 8 foot snowfall in Flagstaff! :)

Bear's first snow! (he was not a fan)

GQ dog:

Umm yeah, we were loaded down!

Pictures do not do it justice!

Absolutely gorgeous!

This is what I picture when I think of West Texas...

Cadillac Graveyard!!!

Yeah, we spray painted our names on one :)

Finally made it to Memphis!! Long live Elvis :)

Check out the guitar shaped pool!

Whew, that was a long post! Check back Monday for a super cute session :)

Oh wow, those old cars sticking out of the land are freakin cool!! Very fun images. I guess I better visit the Grand Canyon since I'm living in AZ now ;-)
